…given and received heart-to-heart
About the practice
Thai Yoga is not a massage at all, but rather an ancient energy-based healing system that combines pressure points, reflexology, and assisted yoga postures.
Treatment effects are enhanced when the receiver is fully relaxed and breathing deeply. This traditional healing practice is called Nuad Boran in the Thai language.
Nuad Boran began to evolve in Thailand over 2,000 years ago. Thai system focuses on circulation of vital energy (Prana) in major pathways called Sen Lines (Nadis).
The major energy lines (Sen) are manipulated, and important pressure points (Marmas) along these pathways are stimulated to help break down blockages, stimulate energy flow and restore balance and harmony.
Thai Yoga’s ultimate goal is the expansion of mind or consciousness and liberation of energy using Nuad Boran healing tradition to balance mind and body and raise the Spirit.
The goal of our practice is to become a fully awakened Buddha (Boddhisattva).
The Bodhisattva-path is an integral part of the Vajrayana, which teaches that all practices are to be undertaken with the motivation to achieve Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings.
This technique integrates Vippassana meditation and yoga postures; which are performed on the recipient with Metta (loving-kindness) during the whole practice.
Through assisted yoga, the body is stretched in ways that are difficult to attain through individual exercise and yoga practice.
The result of a treatment is often an exciting and powerful mind/body healing experience, bringing both the recipient and the practitioner to heightened states of physical and spiritual well-being.

Thai Vajrayana Yoga is a spiritual discipline that incorporates the practices of mindfulness (breath awareness) and loving kindness (compassion)
These techniques, when shared by practitioner and client, help to bring the treatment session to a focused and deeper level of consciousness
…and to learn more about
In Thai Yoga, the recipient remains clothed during a treatment.
There is constant body contact between the practitioner and client, but rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, pulled, stretched, and rocked in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension.
We see the body as a being made of Earth and Water animated by Wind and Fire interacting in an Ether space. Is the inbalance of this 5 elements the root cause of health and disseases.
In the geography of the body we work with the Sen Lines, Marma Points and the 32 parts of it. This are key tools to bring balance to the 5 elements.
The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to create a dance of movement on the body of the recipient. In this process, joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced.
The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and physical and mental well being.

Thai Vajrayana Yoga and Ayurveda
Every individual has a combination of all 3 Dosha (constitutions), with usually one or two of them being more predominant. Depending on the individual’s constitution, the practice can support or aggravate certain aspects of these Dosha.
Dosha are best to highlight the roots of disease, our individual constitutions, and how the entire world may affect our body and mind.
The practice will be adjusted for each of these possibilities:
-
For example, slow steady pace with the least amount of preassure will help to support the Vata type. -
Doing a shorter practice with fast pace, deeper preassure and short pauses tends to support the Kapha type. -
Keeping the inner focus and dristi with steady pace and moderate preassure will supports the Pitta type.
In Thai Yoga, we use the 5 Vayus (winds) to understand the 5 different building blocks of life and enhance our ability to recognize and bring balance in any area of life by the use of healing tools.
While each aspect of the sequence contains all of the Vayus within it, certain Vayus have a tendency to manifest more strongly with certain postures.
This also depends on seasonal and climatic changes, phases of the moon, and transitions of the planets. As a practitioner, we take notes of these changes and bring them into awareness during the practice.
Each of the five Vayus should be balanced within each aspect of the practice:
-
↑ Udana deals with standing poses and inversions or anti-gravity. -
↓ Sitting and Prone postures, particularly resting at the end of the practice, deal with Apana and are more cooling. -
←→ For Vyana, we use extending postures that deal with the skeleton, the legs and arms. -
→←For Samana, sitting postures that deal mostly with the midsection (navel) and are generally more heating and transformative.
-
♥ Vinyasa (movement) cultivates Prana: it always starts with breath, an inhalation which then increases Prana
